Nereid Art is owned and operated by Katie Kripp (she/her). She is a Métis artist living on the beautiful South Shore of Nova Scotia, Canada.  Katie moved here with her husband and daughter in 2021 to be closer to nature and the ocean. 

What is a nereid (nee·ree·id)? A nereid is an ancient Greek spirit of the sea. Known for their beauty and friendliness, they are especially protective of sailors and fishermen. The nereids were the fifty daughters of Greek gods, Nereus and Doris.

Katie, on the other hand, is a self-taught artist with an eclectic educational background in classical history, anthropology, museum conservation, and veterinary technology. Katie enjoys swimming and scuba diving, history, reading, travelling, animals, and gaming.

Katie's art is inspired by the ocean and nature. Her chosen media changes with the tide so you might find a bit of everything in this shop! She especially enjoys creating watercolour and ink illustrations.
