V, W, X
V – American Speedwell (Veronica americana)
This species thrives in slow-moving, wet habitats such as lake shores and wetlands. It is a food source for bumble bees and other pollinators.
W – Yellow Trout Lily (Erythronium americanum)
Highly resistant to transplanting, these plants should not be picked or removed from wild habitats. They grow in shady, moist environments.
X – Field Thistle (Cirsium discolor)
This species is much loved by migrating butterflies such as monarchs and other pollinators due to its large, paler purple flower. While often mistaken as one of the many invasive thistle species, this species is native to eastern Canada.
